RELATION BETWEEN GRADE POINT AVERAGE AND STUDENT INTEREST IN JOIN ORGANIZATION IN ENGLISH DIPLOMA PROGRAM

Student is the statuses for people who have relationship with the College which are expected to be intellectual candidates. It also could be a person who study or studied in College, in the University, Institute or Academy. They are the people who are registered as a student at a Community College or University. In short, students is a group of people that has status because in the college, University or the academic institute. A college student usually gets their score in the GPA form. GPA or Grade Point Average is the standard score result for student study. Every semester is or in every six month, they have an examination and they will get their final score that called GPA. Student is very identic with GPA but, some of them still confused between join organization or focus on their study.  

Some students who have a good Grade Point Average do not join organization but some of them are joined it. They have different reasons for this. Joined organization is part of the activity in college. Some of the students said that joined organization is needed, because they think organization can make them think bigger and it can develop they personality to face any situations, they also learned about the responsibilities in joined organization but some of them also said joined organization must base on their interest. They have to select which organization that can make them develop their passion or support their study.

Base on my research in English Diploma Program, students who has a good result for their study is passive in organization; they just join or put their name but not active member. On the other hand, students who didn’t have a good final score are active in some organization, but there are also some students who active in organization and still have a good GPA in the end of the semester. This type of student, is already has a good time management, they can manage their time between organization and their time to study. Actually they already know that joined organization is needed for their personal life. By joined organization, they can learn so “socialize” with other people; they also can have a lot of friends or link in the future. 

In my testimony for 10 students, there is only 6 students that have a good GPA even though they are joined some organization. One of the factors that can impact why they still have a good GPA even their joined organization are based on what kind of organization that they choose. Student who joined that joined more than 1 organization still can keep their GPA or maybe they can improve it, it because they can manage their time between their study and organization time. For example Ms. S, she joined Student English Forum because she thought that if she joined English organization that have a relation with her major, she can make her learn more, and it also can make she improve her score in the academic. In addition, it not doesn’t mean that student who joined organization that didn’t have relation with their major can make their have bad score, everything is based on how they can manage their time between organization and their study. One of the students said, “Both of them are important, they can be the parameter of your successfulness in the future. The relation between them remains strong so that you need to make them in a good portion. . It means that you can join organization but you also dont forget your first obligation as student. Organization gives you knowledge which will not be studied in class, while studying in class and achieving good index ahievement is also important because you have to make your parents happy because of your achievement. The point is that both, index achievement and organization complete each other.”

In conclusion, relation between students who have a good Grade Point Average and their interest in joined organization is some of them are just focus on how to get a good score, and just want to focus their study, but still they who joined organization and can manage their time between them can still have a good Grade Point Average. Yet, in my case, sometimes students that choose organization which have a relation with their major, they can more improve their GPA.

Synopsis 

The Giver is the movie that was adapted from the novel that written by Lois Lowry’s, because the novel is very popular so Philip Noyce was interested to make it become a movie. The Giver is the movie that takes place in a community at some point in the indeterminate future where "Sameness" is prized above all else. In that place, they don’t have something that can showed the differences between one of them. Multiple factors have gone into creating a monochromatic world (literally, colors have been erased) where individuality is crushed, a citizen's every move is monitored from the moment of birth, natural families have been replaced by artificial "family units" and choice has vanished. A soothing voice makes passive-aggressive scolding announcements over loudspeakers. The Giver's cavernous dwelling, perched on the edge of a cliff, is a gloomy and masterful set, overlooking the clouds gathered below, making The Giver appear like Citizen Kane, holed up in his mansion surrounded by accumulated possessions and raw pain.
When the select day was coming, Jonas was surprise when he didn’t get a job at all. He is, instead selected to be the next Receiver. At the first time he didn’t understand what is Receiver, but he still coming to the training every day. Jonas has ability to see beyond so that’s why he was elected to be the next Receiver. Jeff Bridges who become The Giver, give a Jonas something new for him. He doesn’t know what is that mean. The Giver just asked his arm and hold it tight and he can something beyond. After all of the meeting with the Giver Jonas choose to try to change their world. Jonas try to across the line that made their world becomes different.

This movie is telling about Jonas a young man that elected to be The Receiver. In the Graduation day, everyone will get their job that appropriate with their passion, but Jonas no, he does not have it, he is lost. While everyone get the job in the graduation day, not for Jonas. He was skipped by the leader of the community. To be the next Receiver, Jonas can see something that not everyone can. Day by day after Jonas receiver all of the memories from The Giver, Jonas realize that something wrong in their community. They remove something, feeling, colors, and everything that can make the differences between one and each other. To be the next Receiver, Jonas can’t tell everyone about his training, and he got change to lie. After he knows that something wrong in their community, he tries to share what he got in the training to his friends Fiona. Without he realize he feels something different with her. The Feelings that make him don’t know how to say it, and its love. After all of the memories that he got, Jonas want to change his community, he wants everything to be normal. He asked The Giver and Fiona to help him to across the Line, he wants to save everyone. He wants to share about the love that he feels. While he tries to across the line, Fiona was got punishment because she help Jonas to break the rule. The Giver try to explain to the leader of the community about the reason why Jonas do that. A moment later everything change, Jonas success to break and across the line. Everything has a color right now, everyone can feeling love.

This movie is very recommended to watch. Philip Noyce as the director can make the movie looks more real. For me this story line is also interesting, this is my first time heard about the world that doesn’t have differences, everyone also doesn’t have a feeling. They don’t know how to express what they feel.  The entire thing in that world has a high technology; it seems that they have the perfect world. They can make all of the scenes and tools in this movie are real not animation. All of the actor and actress have a good acting. It’s also unique for me, because everyone has the same house, the same clothes, and everything that they have is the same.

My first and I hope my last surgery

This is one of the bad memories that I ever had. I don’t know maybe it because my first time to have ‘relationship’ with a hospital, and I hate it. When I was in my holiday at home,  A week ago before I had to do a surgery, I went to the doctor to check something on my breast. The first doctor said to me that it’s only a usual lump that every month I want to get menstruation, and the doctor also said to me to be not afraid. Hearing that statement, make me felt better. But he still suggest me to check to him back after one week I finished my period, if there is still a bumps, we have to check what kind of bumps it is.

My holiday at home was over; I should go back to Purwokerto to continue my study in Unsoed. Day by day in Purwokerto, I always checked it every day.  I know, I found myself afraid, but I can’t show it to my parents, I try to pretend that I’m okay with it, I don’t want to make my parents apprehensive about me. One week after my period was over, my parents told me to go back to home, to check it again to the doctor. I have Alloh, and I know everything is going to be okay with Him. The third day I was in home, I went back to the hospital, my parents want me to check to another doctor just to make sure about the diagnosis. Even I’ve got suggestion to check in surgical doctor, but I try to check to the intern special doctor. After that I must check to the radiology clinic to check what kind of bumps it is. And the last doctor that I checked it is a surgical doctor. His name is dr. Tony. After I check it to him, he suggests me to do a surgical operation. It’s kind of heart attack for me, I never imagine to do that. I asked him about another way to blotting out the bumps. If I don’t want to get a surgery, I have to do a therapy intensively. But I can’t because I have to go back to Purwokerto as fast as possible. My mother said to me “it’s okay dear, it’s only small operation, you just have to stay here one night, and then you become health again”.  I know my mother also afraid about my operation, bus she wants me to get healthy and not worried about the bumps anymore. She also tried to speak with my father, after heard about that my father directly go back to house and prepared everything. On the other hand my old brother oppose this operation, he also worried about me who never had ‘relationship’ with the hospital.

            8^th Wednesday 2015, I had my first and I hope my last surgery. At 04:00 pm. I and my family went to the hospital. After I arrived the entire nurse already prepared my room surgery and my infusion. It is also my first infusion, when I spoke with the nurse how if I drunk a water, and she startled about what I said, she said to me if I’m not fasting when I will have a surgery, I will throw up during the surgery. Because of that my surgery almost be canceled, but dr. Tony said, okay you will be given a potion, so you will not throw up during the surgery. At 05:00 I was taken to the sterile room, I have to take off all of my clothes. After that some nurse brings me to the surgery room, I saw 2-3 doctors in that room, after that I lost my conscious. 2 hours later I found myself using interval oxygen on my nose, and then I lost my conscious again. I feel some people talked with me, but I can’t open my eyes, because I’m still under the drugs. After 1 hour later, I was really conscious where I am, who someone who talked with me is, try to awaken me, spoke with me, stroking my hair and cheeks. They are my family, my mother, my old-brother, my father stand not to close; I knew He can’t see me at that kind moment. He was afraid if He will cry in front of me, but I can saw clearly his apprehensive face. A moment later I should move to my room, and after that I was sleep whole night. In the tomorrow morning, my parents should went back to house and met some client at home, so I only with my brother in the hospital. This is my first time seeing him really afraid of me. He took care everything that I need, he also helped me to go to the bathroom, he feed me a fruit, helped me to move the television channel, charge my phone, he helped me everything. In the afternoon dr. Tony visits me in my room, he checked my condition.

At that moment, I know how the feel to stay over in the hospital, and it was felt so badly. Doctor Tony said if I ate very well, and can ate all the food I can go back to my house as fast as possible, so I asked my brother to help me to eat all of the food. In the evening, before dr. Tony visits me again, I already prepared to go back to my house, and he said okay, as long as I ate all of the drugs. And he also said to me to not chicken so much, because it will be dangers to my condition later.

            After the surgery success, I’m very thankful to Alloh. Now I became more selected when I chose something to eat.
